The CJ's Thursday league for the 2018-19 season has been formed from a merger of the existing CJ's league and the Cuthbert Bowling league, previously bowling in Southend.
The Cuthbert League was originally the works sports and social league of the insurance broking company C.E.Heath and of Datasure, (a software company founded by C.E.Heath) when both these companies had offices in Victoria Avenue and Baxter Avenue in Southend. After C.E.Heath ceased operating in Southend, the bowling league continued and became an open league. At that time it took the name of the Cuthbert league, borrowing it from the name of the founder of C.E.Heath:- Cuthbert Heath
This web site is used to post current league results and to provide access to a complete history of all teams and players (at least since the first computerised records were created in the 1980s, the Cuthbert league is actually even older). This season we look forward to joining with CJ's bowlers and making some new history together!
An enhanced version of the site is under development which will provide some more stats, better access to the historical data, and support for parallel scratch league tables as well as a variety of technical improvements to make managing it easier. The aim is for this to finally go live either during the 2018-19 season or at any rate in time for the following season (although it must be admited that this development has been underway for some time and is a slower process than originally hoped and planned!)
